NORTH DAKOTA BADLANDS HORSE

ROOSEVELT'S BAND

This small band has gone through much change in the past year.

After much determination, Ranger (
2013 stallion out of Clinker x Whiskey ), took lead mare Blondie, and siblings Illinois and Quinn from ailing Gray Ghost in the fall of 2018. Twister remained loyal to Gray Ghost until he could no longer defend her from warring stallions and eventually joined the band after being hurt in a breeding scuffle between Wild Rye and Ranger. Although we were unsure of her fate, Twister was never abandoned by her band and keeps up as best she can. .

On July 31st, 2019 Quinn gave birth to her first offspring, a colt named Arcola (sire undetermined.)

In early August 2019, we saw young stallion, Roosevelt successfully kick both Ranger and then Illinois out of the band.

Summer of 2020 saw little Bonnet (filly) born from Quinn which may be Roosevelt's first offspring.

The band can often be seen from the highway near the exit for Medora.
